There are thousands of surf sites and half a dozen of the best are in Sumbawa. But the communication channels here are not simple and are sometimes needed one or two-day journey to reach the place the tourists wants. You may not find so many luxuries in Indonesia islands because sometimes they are seem impossible in some places.
In Sumbawa there are two major areas of waves. . The region Taliwang-Jereweh, on the west coast, with surf as Yo-Yo´s, Super Sucky Scar Reef. And reef Lakey, in the south east coast, with two waves of exceptional quality as Lakey Peak and Lakey Pipe. The landscape in almost all of them is similar; coast, the lagoon and barrier reef. The coast, unlike other parts of Indonesia, lacks dense forests and recalls a more equatorial climate with low forest and low. The lagoon is pretty much alive, because it’s a coral reef lagoon, and a huge swimming pool opens to the ocean full of life. And on the outer reef, the fossilized coral barrier that climbs from the depths, is the spot where the luminous object of desire of surfers, the wave, just its route.
Tides are important. The best season is from April to October. It's better not to come from November to March but you can find epic surf at the south coast or in Central Sumbawa (Lakey peak).
